Khajuraho Temples


Khajuraho is a small town located in Chhatarpur District of M.P. In ancient times this was the cultural city of Chandela Rajputs who ruled this region of Central India. This township is World famous for groups of ancient Hindu and Jain temples. These temples are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The unique architecture dates back to 10th and 11th Century and was built by the Chandela Dynasty. The characteristic erotic carvings on the outer walls of some Hindu Temples. This intrigue visitors who seek meaning for this bizarre existence of carnal expression.

By train: linked to Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh.
By taxi/bus Satna and Jhansi are connected by regular bus service. Khajuraho to Bandhavgarh is 225km, Satna 117km, Jhansi 172km.

A good time to visit is March, when the annual Dance Festival takes place. So the best time to visit Khajuraho is from September to March.
